Description
A creamy, cheesy mac and cheese recipe inspired by Chick-fil-A, perfect for family dinners and quick weeknight meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Make the cheese sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour, stirring constantly for about a minute until it’s bubbly. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth.
- Add the cheeses: Lower the heat and stir in the sharp cheddar and cream cheese until melted and creamy.
- Combine: Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, ensuring every piece is generously coated. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: For an extra special touch, transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish and broil the top for a few minutes until golden.
Notes
Feel free to add protein like grilled chicken cubes or crumbled bacon for a heartier dish. You can also experiment with different cheeses.
