- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the warm milk with sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour and salt together. Create a well in the center and add the melted butter and egg. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a rough dough forms.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If it’s too sticky, gradually add a little more flour.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 12×18 inches.
- Evenly spread the cinnamon mixture over the rolled dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Scatter the fresh strawberries on top.
- Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let rise for another 20-30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the warm rolls.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. To preserve longer, freeze the rolls before glazing.
