Description
A comforting and quick family meal of juicy beef patties stuffed in warm tortillas with special sauce and fresh toppings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- Soft flour or corn tortillas
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
- Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and minced garlic. Adjust seasoning as needed and set aside.
- Shape the Patties: Form the ground beef into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Do not overwork them; a light touch is key for a tender result.
- Heat the Pan: Preheat a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
- Cook the Patties: Place the meatballs in the pan and smash them down with a spatula, creating a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until crusted, then flip and top with cheese.
- Warm the Tortillas: In a separate pan, lightly warm the tortillas until they’re soft and pliable.
- Assemble the Tacos: Place the cooked patties on the warmed tortillas. Top with lettuce, tomato, and a generous drizzle of the special sauce.
- Serve Immediately: Present your Smash Burger Tacos hot, garnished with extra sauce on the side for dipping if desired.
Notes
For a creamier texture, consider using Greek yogurt for your special sauce instead of mayonnaise.
