Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup of Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup of sour cream
  • ¼ cup of cream cheese, softened
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon of grease in the skillet.
  3. Add the sliced onions to the skillet along with a pinch of salt, stirring gently.
  4. Cook until caramelized, about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Combine sour cream, cream cheese, and half the Gruyere cheese in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth.
  6. Fold the caramelized onions and crispy bacon into the cream mixture.
  7. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and top with the remaining Gruyere cheese.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
