- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided

- 1 cup crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 cups cooked rice or egg noodles (optional)
- 1 cup frozen peas or mixed vegetables (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a casserole dish.
- Combine the cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, diced onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half of the shredded cheese in a large bowl.
- If using rice, noodles, or vegetables, fold them in until everything is evenly coated.
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread it out evenly.
- Mix the crushed crackers or breadcrumbs with the melted butter in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the casserole, then top with the buttery cracker mixture.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the casserole is hot, bubbling, and golden on top.
- Let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving to allow the layers to settle.
