Description

A heartwarming recipe that brings families together with its comforting flavors and nostalgic appeal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned or oats)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk (or chicken/vegetable broth)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (or barbecue sauce)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Topping: Additional ketchup or a homemade glaze of your choice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven: Set it to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape your loaf: Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a lightly greased baking dish.
  4. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, mix ketchup with brown sugar and mustard, if using, and spread it evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake: Place your meatloaf in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  6. Rest before slicing: Allow your meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes after removing it from the oven.

Notes

For a cheesy twist, mix in 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option.
