- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, plus extra for sprinkling
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 3/4 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and slightly fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture in two additions.
- Stir in the sour cream and 1 cup of chocolate chips (reserve a few to press on top before baking).
- Use a cookie scoop to portion dough onto the prepared sheets.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes.
- Let the cookies rest on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
Notes
For festive dish, fold in festive chocolate candies or a swirl of caramel. For a healthier option, reduce sugar by 1/4 cup and use dark chocolate chips.
