Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup red, white, and blue candies (M&M’s or similar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and peanut butter until well blended.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  4. Whisk together the flour, oats, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and colorful candies.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking.
