Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the buttery mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick and cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a festive flair, add spices like cinnamon or try whole wheat flour for a healthier option. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
