- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the ground lamb or beef for about 5–7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and diced carrots to the pan, sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and tomato paste, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stir well, and add frozen peas. Season with salt and pepper and simmer for 10 minutes.
- While the meat simmers, prepare your mashed potatoes. Cream them with butter and milk.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish and top with the mashed potatoes.
- Sprinkle cheese on top if using, then place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Let it cool slightly before serving and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
