Description
A heartwarming family favorite, Polish Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are tender rolls filled with savory ingredients, perfect for gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup sour cream (for serving)
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully peel off 8-10 leaves from the cabbage. Blanch them in the boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until they’re pliable. Drain and set aside to cool.
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix half of the tomato sauce with a little salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Rolls: Lay a blanched cabbage leaf flat. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling at the stem end of the leaf. Fold in the sides and roll it up tightly.
- Arrange in the Pan: Spread the remaining tomato sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Place the stuffed rolls seam side down. Pour any remaining sauce over the rolls.
- Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve: Allow rolls to cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with sour cream and parsley.
