- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or a mix)
- 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh herbs like dill or parsley for garnish
- Optional: Greek yogurt or sour cream for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage by removing the core. Blanch in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Lay a cabbage leaf flat, place 2 tablespoons of filling at the base, fold in the sides, and roll tightly.
- In a skillet, combine diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat.
- Place the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the sauce and cover. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with sauce, topped with fresh herbs or yogurt.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute ground meat with lentils. You can also add carrots or zucchini to the filling for extra vegetables.
