One-Pot Skillet Lasagna

Description

A comforting dish featuring layers of tender pasta, rich marinara sauce, and gooey cheese, all made in one skillet for easy preparation.


Ingredients

  • 10 oz. uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 24 oz. marinara sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 15 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, sautéing for an additional minute.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add your ground meat. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once the meat is cooked, stir in the marinara sauce and water. Lay the uncooked lasagna noodles flat on top of the sauce, gently pressing them down to submerge in the liquid.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the noodles are tender.
  6. While the noodles cook, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, and Parmesan in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Once the noodles are cooked through, uncover the skillet and dollop the ricotta mixture over the top. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over everything.
  8. Cover again and let it cook for another 3-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Substitute ground turkey or lentils for a healthier protein option. Add seasonal veggies like zucchini for extra nutrition.
