- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Clean and slice the mushrooms into thick pieces.
- Sauté the Meat: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

- Incorporate Mushrooms: Stir in sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-6 minutes until tender.
- Create the Sauce: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Let it Simmer: Reduce heat and let sauce simmer for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or lentils for the beef. Fresh herbs can enhance flavor just before serving.
