Description
A comforting classic Meatloaf with a delightful honey glaze that brings warmth and togetherness to any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works great for extra crunch)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (or use shallots for a milder flavor)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (substitute with garlic powder if needed)
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk (try almond milk for dairy-free)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup ketchup (spicy ketchup for an extra kick)
- ¼ cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a lined loaf pan or shape it into a free-form loaf on a baking sheet.
- Prepare the Honey Glaze: Mix the ketchup and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Brush half over the top of the meatloaf, saving the rest for later.
- Bake It: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, until golden brown.
- Glaze Again: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and brush on the remaining glaze. Bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Rest: Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Consider adding chopped bell peppers or spinach for a veggie boost and use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness.
