Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165 g) packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (340 g) semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Beat the softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, scraping the bowl to ensure everything is mixed evenly.
- Combine the dry ingredients and mix until just combined—don’t overmix. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop large portions with a 1/4 cup scoop and place dough balls 3 inches apart on the sheet.
- Bake for 12–16 minutes until golden edges and slightly underbaked centers are achieved.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, and let rest on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Use room-temperature ingredients for the best results. For an extra rich flavor, consider browning the butter.
