Description

Celebrate Mardi Gras with this delightful Homemade King Cake featuring a sweet cinnamon swirl and colorful frosting. Perfect for gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • Colored Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, stirring gently. Let it sit until bubbly—about 5 minutes.
  2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. Roll and Fill: Roll it out into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Form the Cake: Roll the rectangle into a log, then shape it into a circle, pinching the ends to seal.
  7. Second Rise: Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Frost: While cooling, whip together your frosting and spread it over the top, then decorate with colorful sprinkles.
  10. Enjoy: Serve slices and hide that baby inside!
