- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup unsweetened peanut butter (xylitol-free)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 large egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a round cake pan by lightly greasing it.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking powder until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the peanut butter, applesauce, water, egg, and honey until smooth.
- Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Optional frosting made from plain Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Add grated carrots for extra nutrition. Decorate with small dog treats or fruits like blueberries.
