Description

Tender, slow-cooked chicken topped with savory spices, served in crusty rolls with a rich broth for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls or baguettes
  • Black pepper and salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Lay the chicken breasts in the bottom of your crock pot.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, onion soup mix, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until combined.
  3. Gently pour the broth mixture over the chicken, ensuring they are well-covered.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or high for 3-4 hours.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, shred the chicken right in the pot, and stir in more broth if needed.
  6. Place shredded chicken on hoagie rolls, top with provolone, and melt under the broiler.
  7. Ladle the broth into small bowls for dipping.

Notes

For a lighter option, try using turkey instead of chicken. You can also customize with veggies or different cheeses.
