Description
A delightful recipe for Crispy Fried Chicken that brings comfort and joy, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- Chicken Pieces (4 pounds)
- Buttermilk (2 cups)
- All-Purpose Flour (2 cups)
- Cornstarch (1 cup)
- Paprika (1 tablespoon)
- Garlic Powder (1 tablespoon)
- Onion Powder (1 tablespoon)
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Vegetable Oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are generously coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour, or preferably overnight.
- Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, and a pinch of salt.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet, pour oil to cover the bottom by about an inch and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Coat the Chicken: Remove chicken from marinade, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken: Place chicken pieces skin-side down in the hot oil. Fry for about 8–10 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain and Rest: Transfer cooked chicken to a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil and let rest for a few minutes.
Notes
For a healthier option, use skinless chicken or bake instead of frying. Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
