A delightful casserole perfect for Christmas morning, combining eggs, sausage, cheese, and bread for a warm, festive meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 4 cups cubed bread
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage, draining excess fat.
  3. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. In a large baking dish, combine the cubed bread, cooked sausage, bell peppers, and half of the cheese. Pour the egg mixture evenly over.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the casserole.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, prepare the casserole the night before and let it rest in the fridge.
