- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and cut out the core; blanch leaves in boiling water for 3–4 minutes.

- Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet and cook until browned; season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in uncooked rice and half the tomato sauce; simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Spread a layer of remaining tomato sauce in a baking dish; fill cabbage leaves with meat mixture, roll up, and place seam-side down in the dish.
- Pour remaining tomato sauce over the rolls and sprinkle cheese on top if using.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
- Let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute meat with lentils or mixed veggies. Fresh herbs like parsley or dill can be added before serving for extra flavor.
