Description

Cozy and comforting Baked Italian Meatballs, perfect for weeknight dinners and family gatherings, made with a blend of beef, pork, and aromatic herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, fresh basil leaves, 1/4 cup ricotta

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment and lightly drizzle with olive oil.
  2. Soak the breadcrumbs in milk for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Scoop about two tablespoons of the mixture and roll into even balls.
  5. Drizzle the meatballs with a little olive oil and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan.
  7. Remove the meatballs from the oven and spoon the warmed marinara over them.
  8. Return the meatballs to the oven and bake another 8–12 minutes until cooked through.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil and more parsley before serving.

Notes

Let the meatballs rest for 5–10 minutes after baking to redistribute the juices. Use uniform sizes for even cooking.
