For the biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup cold milk
For the apple filling:
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup water
For the glaze (optional):
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the apple filling by cooking apples, sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water in a saucepan for 10-15 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Make the biscuit dough by mixing flour, baking powder, salt, and butter, then adding milk. Mix until just combined.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface, cut into squares or circles, and fill with apple filling. Seal and bake at 400°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, then drizzle over the biscuits after they cool slightly.
