Tender and juicy meatballs filled with garlic and herbs, perfect for family dinners or festive occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated onion or finely minced shallot
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups simple marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F if baking; otherwise, heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Soak the breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Mix ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, Parmesan, parsley, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl.
  4. Shape into golf-ball-sized portions and place on a tray.
  5. Sear meatballs in olive oil in the skillet until golden, about 1–2 minutes per side.
  6. Simmer marinara sauce in a pan, nestle browned meatballs, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Rest the meatballs in the sauce for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, replace half the beef with ground turkey and use almond milk. Freeze raw meatballs on a tray for future use.
