- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated onion or finely minced shallot
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups simple marinara sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F if baking; otherwise, heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Soak the breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes until softened.
- Mix ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, Parmesan, parsley, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl.
- Shape into golf-ball-sized portions and place on a tray.
- Sear meatballs in olive oil in the skillet until golden, about 1–2 minutes per side.
- Simmer marinara sauce in a pan, nestle browned meatballs, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until cooked through.
- Rest the meatballs in the sauce for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, replace half the beef with ground turkey and use almond milk. Freeze raw meatballs on a tray for future use.
